Dear UPark Families,
My classroom is officially room 202 now, but to access this website please continue to use www.weebly.upark201.com or go to the UPark website and locate staff members. Click on the icon by my photo to find this newsletter and any future newsletters. This will be my primary means of letting you know what's happening in room 202.
Tuesday was an exciting day. Ms. Nancy Smith, our P.E. teacher, coordinated guest speakers and built a schedule whereby we traveled from room to room to learn about health, safety, nutrition, and exercise. The kids learned about Lacrosse, tasted quinoa and persimmon seeds, practiced brain exercises, and met a retired NBA player from the Nuggets to name just a few. The students learned many new things about nutrition, values and character, and exercise.
I will be sending parent teacher conference confirmations home in the Thursday folder this week. If the assigned time does not work for you, please send a note so I can find a more convenient time for both of us. Attached you will find the new class schedule. The new schedule is working much better especially during the intervention time.
Halloween will be here before you know it. We will be having a parade and party this year. Kristen and Elin, our room parents, may be calling you to help with food and paper items. On the 31st, send your children to school in their costumes with any necessary face make-up on. Please note that no masks are to be worn and anything that resembles a weapon should not come to school. There are many small children in the building, so tone down anything that might scare them. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. We will be walking around the field (good weather) or in the building from room-to-room (bad weather). Upon conclusion of the parade, the class will return to class for a 45 minute party. After the party the kids will have the opportunity to change into school clothes, so please send a change of clothes with them. We will go back to school work after the party. UPark is a healthy school, so please do not send any candy. If it shows up at school, it will be returned to you via your child. At UPark we prefer to offer children healthy choices so that they may incorporate a healthy diet and lifestyle into their lives.
                                                    Happy Halloween!

Dear Mrs.Durkee,
I just read the family note and I was thinking if we add pictures to the
Family letter when Valerie and I start writing the family letters?

Thanks for reading,
Hajar
